Using Bridgemates: Miscellaneous Points

       • The TD Menu is reserved for use by Tournament
Directors, and access is protected by a pin code.
The EBU regards it as an offence for a player to try
to discover the code or use the menu.
       • Players might find things are overall quicker and
smoother if North enters details of the contract,
declarer, and opening lead before play of the hand
           commences.
       • And, incidentally, we ask for the opening lead so
that players have that extra piece of sometimes vital
information when they’re dissecting results in the
bar. It can also be useful to TDs when there are
           problems to be resolved.
       • When you’re verifying a result as East or West,
make sure you check the sign of the score, as well
as the number itself – positive scores are in favour
of NS, negative scores in favour of EW. If North has
entered the declarer as East or West when it should
have been North or South, or vice versa, the sign of
the score displayed will be different to what you
           expect.
       • The information we show on the Bridgemate is:
o the percentage to each of NS and EW
o the frequencies [depending on the size of
field], so you won’t see opening leads
       • We don’t make ranking information available, as this
is calculated by the Bridgemate Control Software on
the assumption that the event is match-pointed pairs
           rather than Swiss Pairs.
